The struggle of a daily commuter. A glance at a commuter chronicles and the struggle she faces daily. The story I’m about to share with you happens to me at least two times a week. Here’s a quick peep at my daily commute.
Have you ever woken up one morning and felt like everything’s already spiraling down? The moment you get up, look at the time and say “fuck”, you already know you’re running against time.
So… that’s what happened this morning.
I woke up feeling ugh, still in bed thinking about life, my 2 hours commute to work, plans, family, etc. I was thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. Does this make sense? Looked at the clock, looked at it again, 5:15am. Okay, just relaxed, closed my eyes, and gave myself another 15. Opened my eyes, looked at the time…. 6:30 FUCKKKK!!!
Now fast forward to me sprinting to the bus. I had 5 minutes left to head out to the bus stop and still hadn’t had breakfast. T-second to get to the kitchen, couldn’t find my mason jar. “Forget it! I said… anything will work”. I quickly put my breakfast together. It was 1, 2, 3! I just added some organic rolled oat, almond milk, peanut butter, pure Canadian maple syrup, and frozen raspberries in a jar I found nearby. It’ll be good by the time I make it to work. T-1min – closed lid and headed out the door. Put alarm on, locked the door, started running.
Running, running, wait…wait.. Did I take a picture of my breakfast?
WAITTT! I didn’t take pictures to share. Fuckkkkk! Ran back in, took some more frozen raspberries for extra topping, ran back out, and locked the door. Snapped a few pics, tried to hid the stickers on the side of the jar. Nope! It’s not working. Ahhh forget it! T-3 min, started running/sprinting. T-1 min, oh fuck – the bus speeding down to the stop. “I have to make it! I have to make it”. T-0second, bus arrived, fuck! still sprinting. Now praying for the light to stay red. Still sprinting and praying. I made it, light turned green and she opened the door.
I must’ve been flashwoman or something because they way I put this oat together and sprinted to the bus was incredibly amazing ?. The struggle of a commuter.
I hope you guys enjoy this story because the struggle I go through every morning just to get to NYC is not amusing at all. Please share, comment, like this story because I know there are other commuters who go through the fiasco. It’s not easy living outside of New York City. So cheers to all the commuters out there! You guys ROCK!
